Pair Arrested For Assaulting Would-Be Buyer During Drug Deal In Virginia: Police

A botched drug deal that ended in the beat-down of a would-be buyer landed two behind bars in Prince William County, police say.

Woodbridge residents Gregory Alphonzo Evans and Gabriel Alexander Bruins, both 23, are facing weapons and robbery charges following an incident that played out during an early morning exchange on Thursday.

Officers from the Prince William County Police Department were called at around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 3 to the 4800 block of Kirkdale Road in Woodbridge, where they found a 20-year-old victim who had just been assaulted.

According to the victim, he was attempting to purchase drugs from the two, when they instead began to attack him, stealing his phone and threatening him with a gun.

The three were ultimately separated, and the victim ran into the officers as he was fleeing from the area, leading them straight to Evans and Bruins. 

They were arrested without incident.

Evans was charged with: 

  • Robbery;
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery;
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Bruins was charged with: 

  • Robbery;
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery;
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon;
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Both are being held without bond.
